"En el Mar Mágico" - "In the Magical Sea" is a bilingual board book for kids to get familiarized with the name of sea animals in English and Spanish.
Written by E.I. Ruiz (Magical Corazón Books) and Illustrated by Laura Moraiti
Watercolors and colored pencils were used to bring all the sea animals to life, so every illustration started as a traditional piece. They were later scanned and combined with watercolor and ink textures, also developed for this project.
The color palette conveys the rich colors from Mexican tradition - where the author is from - and also serves the purpose of being vibrant for the kids. The flowy watercolor backgrounds reflect the sense of water in the ocean
